Pools, Patterns, and Sister Days.
Another friend is to be married which means another bridal shower to plan. Planning went quite well and I think it will turn out beautifully. Since it is summer, we can start having bridal showers outside. That is only if the weather decides to cooperate and not make that a thunderstorm evening. In the coarse of the planning, J brought up that her friend was marrying a “Border Collie Boyfriend.” She meant to say “Golden Retriever Boyfriend” and we all got a laugh.
Just one of my favorite things in the summer is a good old lemonade. Or maybe it is a blackberry, lime, and mint refresher. Summer drinks are just my favorite!
Along with that, how much I have enjoyed paddling in the pond and laying out on my paddle board on sunny days. It was a very good birthday gift and I recommend getting yourself one if you live near a body of water.
Which leads into my next fun topic! My coworker owns a pool. That means that after a long day of baking brownies, we don our swim wear and take a dunk in the pool. It is quite a fun thing. Some McDonald’s afterward tastes quite delicious.
I got fitted for a dress pattern recently. It is amazing how easy it is to sew without taking it in here and there or ripping out things and sewing narrow seams. It also makes sewing a lot more fun.
Focaccia bread is my latest endeavor. Although I didn’t follow the recipe to the exact specifications, it turned out quite delicious and I am excited to try some fun garnishes and the like.
It seems my life is all full up of work and school things and occasionally a youth function or too. However, there was a really fun Saturday recently that held an adventure and some quality sister time. Big sister Lex and I decided we were going to make a trip to Cleveland for some shopping and the only requirement was to dress up. Out came the white dresses, the lacey socks, the half moon bags, and even a pair of kitten heels showed up. The hour drive commenced. Long drives with the sibling always make for funny conversations. We walked the outdoor mall and before too long, we were inside a chocolate shop. A caramel apple covered in nuts, milk chocolate and dark chocolate and a Dubai chocolate bar were secured. As kids, Lex and I had always begged our parents for caramel apples but in vain, as it was an unnecessary extra cost. Now as adults with our own money, the purchase of a caramel apple seemed a good choice. Boy were we right! It was delicious but I actually agree with my parents on this. It was an extra cost but on this instance we weren’t thinking about the money; we were thinking about the memories. Mum has said she thinks they should have just bought us a caramel apple when we were little:) I do remember receiving a bag of cotton candy the size of my head on a birthday so don’t think we were lacking in sugar content! Anyways, some Chick-fil-A was procured and Target was given some business in the form of two sisters. For supper we decided we were going to go fancy. The Italian restaurant chosen was delightful. The food was delightful. The waitress was the nicest one I had met in a while. The vibes were immaculate as we sat outside under a canopy and ate carbs and chatted. I would highly recommend a fun “Girl’s Daye” if you have the opportunity.
Once again the youth girls gathered at the school for some volleyball. This time around the volleyball wasn’t so good but the affogatos with fun toppings were delicious. Afterward we sat around on the stage chatting about pop culture, work, and friends and listened to our fellow youth girls’ class programs. It was actually quite special to listen to the programs together. Silence always fell whenever a friend was singing and we craned our ears to hear what voice they were singing.
